Monday at lunch, I made a Sam’s run to get coffee for my wife and some protein drinks for me.

As I got out of my car, I heard the metal-on-metal clash of two shopping carts (aka buggies) crashing together.  Someone had pushed their empty cart into the crowded cart corral in the parking lot from about 10 feet away.

The person (who shall remain nameless because I have no clue what their name is) turned around, got in their vehicle, and left.

What that person did NOT see was what happened next.

The cart they pushed into the cart corral didn’t stay there.  It glanced off the first cart it hit.  Then it just sat there.  Briefly.

Now Monday was a windy day.  The wind moved the cart ever so slightly.  And then gravity did its thing.

The buggy started rolling downhill.  Aided by the stiff wind, the cart picked up more speed.

Until…

BAM!  The cart hit the side of an SUV.

And here comes the lesson…

Never park downhill from a shopping cart corral.

This all happened 50 feet away from me, so the chances of me catching the cart in time was slim to none.

Plus, I would have had to run across traffic in a Sam’s parking lot.  Um, no.

So stick to the high ground when you look for parking spaces if shopping carts are around.  Your paint job will thank you.

Be Safe, Have Fun,

Darren Bayne
