Did you know?…
Twenty years ago, 90 percent of U.S. households had a landline.
Now, that number is down to less than 25%.
You are probably reading this post on your (un-landlined) phone…wirelessly scrolling wherever you might be.
And that’s great.
But there is something to be said about having a phone in a dedicated spot in your house–just in case.
Out of curiosity, do you have an old cell phone nobody uses anymore?
It may not even have service anymore. You just never traded it in and now it’s not worth enough to bother with.
Great news!
You just identified your “landline”.
Here’s what I mean.
Every cell phone (even ones without service) can dial 911. That means your old phone can be your last line of defense if you really, really, really need to make a call.
So grab that old phone, plug it into its charger, and put it in a place the whole family knows about. Show the little ones how to dial 911 or press the ‘Emergency’ button on the phone.
You’ll sleep a touch better once you do it.
Another way to sleep better at night is having a home alarm system.
We’ve used SimpliSafe for the past five years.
I love the flexibility of setting up a system tailor-made for our needs. My wife loves knowing that no one can get in our house without us hearing about it…loudly.
I’ve partnered with SimpliSafe to get you a better deal through this link than you would just going to their website.
Get the monitored service. It’s about a dollar a day. The big plus is they will notify law enforcement, the fire department, and anyone else you want if the alarm is triggered.
And since it’s a wireless system, you can take it with you if you move.
So go take a look at it. It’s one more way to keep you and your family protected.
Be Safe, Have Fun,
